It covers all aspects of common core state standard Kindergarten Language 5 a-d as follows:
5a. Sort common objects into categories to gain a sense of the concepts the categories represent - This game includes 64 vocabulary cards to sort onto engaging baseboards. Contains 8 categories of objects.
5b. Demonstrate understanding of frequently occurring verbs and adjectives by relating them to their opposites.
5c. Identify real-life connections between words and their use.
- This activity uses a highly engaging baseboard with detailed farm scene to teach descriptive vocabulary. The student follows the instructions on the 8 cards to find the correct object by use and then gives a real-life example.
5d. Distinguish shades of meaning among verbs describing the same general action by acting out the meanings - Students draw a card and act out the action illustrated on the card. They are then encouraged to act out one of 3 similar verbs (shades of meaning). This is a great vocabulary activity for a small group of students!
