How can religion and spirituality help support teachers in their self-care?

Whether or not you have a particular faith, no doubt you DO have spiritual and mindset practices that support you.

There are a lot of teachers who feel VERY supported and a purpose in their career that IS connected to their religion and beliefs.

After chatting with some other educators, here’s our Top 12 list.

12 Ideas to Incorporate Religion / Spiritual Practices into Your School Day to help support you:

  1. Read the Bible each morning.
  2. If you are frustrated by a student, pray before you react.
  3. Have a grounding practice each morning to help feel a connection to the earth.
  4. Incorporate values of kindness that are central to your faith/religion.
  5. Listen to audiobooks about mindset/mindfulness on the commute to work.
  6. Practice gratitude.
  7. Meditate.
  8. Tarot card readings
  9. Daily devotionals
  10. Daily movement / stretching
  11. Keep a journal.
  12. Listen to music.

Some of these practices might not seem based in spirituality, religion, or faith to you...while some of them might resonate fully...but all are ideas that have helped at least ONE teacher.

Take what you want to try and leave the rest.

But realize that this can be a huge support for many.

If you think it might be for you, it’s a great time to consider, which of these do you want to make a habit of for the coming school year to help get you in the right mindset for your teaching day?
